I lost two full buy-ins early on (one with straight over straight, the other straight over flush). To make things worse, both of these hands were going on at the same time and I was in a pot on the third table. Three tables was much more difficult to keep a handle on than two was (although maybe this is what two was like when I first started). Perhaps playing three will force me to play a little tighter than I normally do.
Some hands.

So preflop is a little dubious. I think I have ok implied odds there (I clearly don't have the pot odds to call right away). My river bet is definitely a poor size. It doesn't really get a fold, I have no room to escape for another three dollars and it can't induce a bluff raise for that very reason. Maybe check-call or check-raise is better, or a smaller bet of say $2 to try and make him bluff.

When he reraises pre-flop, this particular villain could have a lot of things. Maybe that call isn't so great from me. Of course, JJ+, AQ+ are all in his range (and leave me way behind) but so are a lot of coinflips and things I dominate. On the flop, he bets $3.60 into $2.40. If I only have the 9 outs, I can't call this. If he has a made flush, I can't call this. If he has KK or QQ with a spade, leaving me 11 outs, I'm fine, and if he has something like A8 I'm ok. Against TT with one spade, leaving me 14 outs, it's a pure coinflip (more or less).
After the flop, I think everything is fine. Preflop is not great, but it's ok for this level.

Up to now, I've been giving this villain a lot of respect, and so has pretty much everyone else. He's been pretty tight with starting cards and his showdowns have all involved big hands from preflop. I'm getting 4.5:1 on my preflop call and I know he'll be aggressive later on (I have the feeling he bulldozed me once or twice before in a bet-raise-reraise-fold sort of way).
The flop minraise is unlike anything I've seen him do before. One of my favourite pieces of poker advice is that, when you want to appear strong, act like you do when you really are strong (so if you tend to make big bets with big hands, make a big bet with air). Since I'd expect him to bet big here (like to at least $1) if he has the flush, I think he's trying to roll over me. I check the turn to induce another bluff-bet and also partly because it'll be cheaper if I'm wrong than a bet-raise-call. I'm also not worried about the 7 or the straight. A6 and 66 are a small part of his range. That river 7 I really don't like as it brings in overpairs to beat me. I plan a check-call again for pot control and bluff inducing, but he gives up and checks behind.
And that's that. I fought my way back to even overall (one table came out down from 20 to 6, the others were up) and then made a little. 3-tabling was a bit hectic but generally ok and I think in time I'll get used to it.
