.10/.25 NLH SH 18/05/08

So, moved up to 25NL, made silver star and so far it's ok. Had a great session this morning (+6BI in 500 hands), a meh session later and a horrible session after that. First 2K hands are pretty good, could've been a lot better if I hadn't got cocky.

BTN: $21.55
SB: $19.05
BB: $24.80
UTG: $9.40
MP: $27.95
Hero (CO): $28.70

Pre-Flop: 6c 6d dealt to Hero (CO)
UTG folds, MP calls $0.25, Hero raises to $1, BTN calls $1, SB calls $0.90, BB calls $0.75, MP calls $0.75

Flop: ($5) 4s 5s 5d (5 Players)
SB checks, BB checks, MP checks, Hero bets $3.75, BTN folds, SB calls $3.75, BB calls $3.75, MP folds

Turn: ($16.25) Qd (3 Players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks

River: ($16.25) 2h (3 Players)
SB bets $14.30 and is All-In, 2 folds

I think it's likely the SB has something here. A3 hit, random queens (AQ/KQ floating the flop, it seems unlikely). Basically, I fold because I can't see what I beat except a missed flush draw and not many people at this level are shoving one of those for half a buy in (I don't think). Probably look him up with JJ or something, but way too much beats me.

BTN: $21.75
SB: $30.80
BB: $16.35
UTG: $9.90
MP: $28.20
Hero (CO): $29.40

Pre-Flop: 8s As dealt to Hero (CO)
UTG raises to $5, MP folds, Hero raises to $10,UTG is a moron, throwing money around with a lot of crap. A8s is ahead of his range here. Although this isn't a brilliant hand, I'll take it. The raise gets him all in and hopefully isolates. 2 folds, BB raises to $16.35 and is All-In, UTG calls $4.90 and is All-In, Hero calls $6.35 Damn. But with $36 in there, I'm getting 6:1. Unless he only does this with AA, I have to call. So realistically, I have to call, however much I hate it.

The questionable part is the raise. But everyone is after a piece of UTG and I don't want the guys behind me coming along and getting me off the flop.

SB: $28.75
BB: $46.20
UTG: $27.60
MP: $33.40
CO: $27.70
Hero (BTN): $26.10

Pre-Flop: Kd Jc dealt to Hero (BTN)
UTG calls $0.25,He does that a lot, and often folds to the raise. MP folds, CO raises to $1, Hero calls $1,On reflection, this really is "all kinds of spew" as someone on 2+2 said. I have a love hate relationship with this hand. SB folds, BB raises to $5,He's something like 19/18. Almost never entering without a raise makes this a slightly wider 3-bet range than usual, but he's solid, so OOP means he's probably not that wide. Since I was stealing in the first place, he might be restealing. At least, those were my thoughts at the time. Now I look at it, even though it's still an ok spot for a steal/squeeze, depending on CO, I really need to cut my losses and run. 2 folds, Hero calls $4

Flop: ($11.35) 5s Ts 2s (2 Players)
BB checks, Hero bets $8.25,Going with my read of a steal from preflop. A slightly smaller bet might get the job done because all I really want is for him to give up on missed hands or crappy steal cards. BB raises to $28.70, Hero folds Have to give credit for something here. I have to call 13 to win about 40, and I only can rely on 6 outs. Super thin, definitely not a call with rake and the possibility one pair won't take it down anyway.

Terrible hand for me. First preflop call is bad but not awful, second is awful but not disastrous. Still don't mind the c-bet.

UTG: $28.75
MP: $43.90
CO: $30.60
BTN: $25
SB: $28.45
Hero (BB): $28.95

Pre-Flop: 7h 9h dealt to Hero (BB)
3 folds, BTN raises to $0.75, SB calls $0.65, Hero calls $0.50 Probably better off mucking this 80% of the time. Getting about 3:1 but I didn't have a good fix on the villains post flop.

Flop: ($2.25) 4d Qh 3d (3 Players)
SB checks, Hero bets $1.50,BTNs attempt to steal was only 16%, so maybe the donkbet on the missed flop wasn't great BTN raises to $3.50, SB folds, Hero calls $2 7:2 price drawing at 4:1. Yeah, should've folded.

Turn: ($9.25) Kh (2 Players)
Hero bets $5, Picked up a FD. He has $21 behind and I can probably stack him if he bets again and I hit. Now that I'm this deep in the hand, even though I shouldn't be, check call is probably my best line. A bet of say $7, leaves me calling $7 to win $30, which is thin but probably my best way out of this crap. BTN raises to $14, Hero folds There's $28 in there, he has $7 behind. Calling $9 to win $35 is bad at 4:1, plus rake, but it might be better than folding. Butchered this hand terribly.

The last two hands clearly show me playing crappy hands preflop, and overplaying them postflop. Looking back, I did that a lot tonight. Tilted slightly towards the end after a couple of losses (KK into AA 200BBs deep was not good, missing the giant fish from the As8s hand a couple more times, AKs loses to QQ for a full BI etc.). Ultimately, it's the same leak I've always had, and most of that stuff shouldn't be bothering me because I played ok and got unlucky (or not lucky, which isn't quite the same).
